Florence Library Hosts Virtual Poetry Celebration - The Library is accepting submittals now.

The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library observes National Poetry Month with a month long virtual poetry celebration during the month of April 2021. National Poetry Month was established by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, the goal is to increase the visibility of the poetic form.

The Library is accepting submittals now. Poets, aged 18 years or older, can submit a video of themselves reading the poem of their choice. Instructions for video submittals can be found below and on our Facebook page. That is also where the approved videos can be viewed, during the month of April.

We are accepting submittals now. Poets, aged 18 years or older, can submit a video of themselves reading the poem of their choice. In the video, include an introduction about yourself – your name and where you are from – a bit about why you selected the poem you chose, as well as the name and the author of the poem, original works are also accepted. Foul language or obscene gestures are not permitted and proper clothing is required.

Your video should be saved in MP4 format and can then be shared with us using some form of online storage platform, such as Google Drive or Dropbox. Or you can upload your video to YouTube and send the URL to us so that it can be added to the lineup of poems featured. Submit videos or URLs to poetry@florencelibrary.org. Received videos will be shared on our webpage and Facebook page, during the month of April.
