Author Susan Beckham Zurenda was scheduled to appear at the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library in August at an author talk presented by Friends of Florence County Library. Unfortunately, this event had to be cancelled due to safety concerns resulting from the continuing pandemic.

In light of the cancellation, the author has made the following video presentation about her new book, Bells for Eli: A Novel, available.

About Susan Zurenda:

A recipient of several regional awards for her fiction, including The South Carolina Fiction Project, The Porter Fleming Literary Competition, and The Southern Writers Symposium, she has also published numerous stories and nonfiction pieces in literary journals. Her debut novel, Bell for Eli, was published in March of this year.

About Bells for Eli: A Novel:

"In Zurenda's beautifully crafted debut, a young woman unexpectedly withdraws from her senior year of college in 1978 and returns to her hometown in South Carolina…Insightful and assured, Zurenda's haunting coming-of-age story should appeal to fans of nuanced and atmospheric Southern fiction." - Publishers Weekly
